After cooling the injured area for up to 20 minutes, apply a sterile dressing. DO NOT apply creams, ointments, lotions or butter to any burn injury Rescuers should take care to avoid burn injury to themselves. In the case of electrical burns the victim should be disconnected from the Immersion or irrigation with running tepid water (15 C) should be continued for up to 20 minutes. Cool the burn with cool running water for a minimum of 20 minutes. Remove clothing from around the burn. Cut around clothing if required, and remove jewellery if it is interfering with breathing or circulation. Keep the patient warm. Get medical help. As soon as possible, put the burnt area under cool running water for at least 20 minutes: Don't use ice (only apply water to the burnt area). Remove any clothing or jewellery near the burn. Don't remove anything that is stuck to the burn.
